A longtime client had run a non-profit organization for several years and was ready to leave it. But she is not ready to take to the recliner for all time. She wants to continue making an important contribution to the world, as she had always done. She plans to do some consulting and special projects that interest her, and she asked me to help her be present and visible so people who needed her special talents could easily find her.
Another client had spent his career at a large, international company. He was accustomed to the best marketing support available. When he left his position, he wanted to leave the hours and travel behind, but not the rewarding work. He didn’t know how to market himself to people and projects that matched his unique skill set, and he didn’t want to invest his time in learning. He asked me to help him establish a presence so people with interesting, exciting, and relevant projects could find him.
Retirement is not the same for our generation as it was for our parents or grandparents. Many of us aren’t ready to take to the rocking chair or the golf course for the rest of our lives. Many of us celebrate the new beginnings and opportunities this life stage brings to us. We still have a lot of energy and wisdom to share with the world – we just need a little support to bring it to life.
